Click Here to return to the opening page Who we are I know you've heard that tea-partiers are: racist, violent, bigots, Astroturf, crazy or whatever. But take a look at the pictures above and ask yourself "do these people look like racist bigots?" None of the scary accusation are true; all they amount to are a bunch of "politics a usual" from political operatives with an agenda. Come to our meetings and find out for yourself! We are your neighbors and friends and most of us are getting involved with our communities and government for the first time. I led the march on April 15, 2009 from Olympia City Hall to the State Capitol steps. I expected 100 people, but we counted 1,800 participants in our march. We marched peacefully and stopped to let traffic pass. We came from all across the State to protest out of control spending by both Washingtons. At one point in the march an employee came out of a State office building and started screaming at us that we were a bunch of racists... Surprised for a moment our marchers broke into laughter at his ridiculous accusation and continued on with the march. When our march joined the Push Back Rally at the Capitol steps both groups spontaneously began to sing America the Beautiful. When the rally was through my wife and I stayed behind to pick up any trash, of which there was virtually none. The State Patrol later told me that the crowd (which numbered 6,000) was the most well behaved crowded they has seen and that we hadn't even broken a single one of the thousands of newly planted tulips! None of us are paid to attend our Tea Party events. We don't take marching orders from Republicans or Democrats and we are determined to remain non-partisan. We are not supported by powerful unions or bankrolled by rich people. Just like me, all the tea party leaders I know don't get paid a dime for all their time and effort. We stand tall as patriots depending upon each other. We love our country. We care about our neighbors and our children's future. We are your friends and neighbors; this is who we are. If you are skeptical, come and find our four yourself. If you share the concerns that more than 70% of Americans feel then join us and become part of the solution. Yours truly, Ken Morse, Olympia Tea Party organizer Structure Olympian Tea Party (OTP) is a not-for-profit organization registered in Washington State. OTP is not yet tax exempt. Donations are not tax deductible at this time. We are 100% volunteer. We are Non-Partisan, we do not endorse candidates. What brought us together The reason we gather for tea parties is to protest out of control attitudes and spending by both Washingtons. Tea Parties are NOT anti-government. The only race we are concerned with is the one to save our country. We oppose the big business special interest influences over our nation.
